Material choice dictates performance. Injection-molded containers typically use polypropylene (PP) due to its high heat tolerance and impact resistance. This makes them ideal for reheating and heavy sauces, as they withstand microwave and dishwasher cycles without warping.
Thermoformed containers frequently use PET, PP, or foamed polystyrene. PET offers crystal clarity, perfect for showcasing salads or fruits, but has a lower heat threshold (usually max 60°C/140°F). Thermoformed PP is also available but relies on the sheet's thickness for strength. Because the stretching process thins the material at the corners, thermoformed containers are less robust under stress than their injection-molded counterparts, though they offer superior clarity and lightweight economics for cold applications.
